Definition of Bit,Byte and Character


Bit defined as the smallest unit of data , the computer can process.

Byte defined as when 8 bits are group together as unit, they form
a byte .

Character include numbers, uppercase and lower case of alphabet,
functuation marks and others such as the letters of the Greek alphabet .

Bit

Definition:
The smallest unit of data that the computer can process.
Bit is a short for binary digit.

Byte

Definition:
Is a unit of information built from bits.
1 byte = 8 bits.

Character

One byte represents one character.

Conclusion
1 byte = 8 bits = 1 character
